Honda Atlas Cars Pakistan Ltd, a subsidiary of Honda Motor Co Ltd, has announced the longest production shutdown to date amongst Pakistan's struggling automotive industry. The company's plant will remain shut from March 9, 2023, to March 31, 2023, due to severe import difficulties that have disrupted the supply chain.

Pakistan's automotive industry has been hit hard by economic difficulties, causing central bank foreign exchange reserves to drop to a level barely able to cover four weeks of imports. This has resulted in delays in processing letters of credit for imports, with priority being given to essential items like food and medicine. Other automakers, such as Indus Motor Company Limited and Pak Sauzuki Motor Company, have also been forced to halt production in the past three quarters.
